In these times, we all must educate ourselves on public policy and practice civil discourse to learn from one another. It is more than okay to admit that you are not entirely educated on a subject. I am sure that even experts with degrees in their fields can always learn more. If you acknowledge that you don’t know everything about a topic, you can learn much more about it. Not only that but in our world today, it is crucial that we don’t act as though we know everything so that others don’t spread the misinformation you tell them. Educate yourself on a subject, converse with others, and ask questions! It is more than okay not to know everything there is to know about a topic!
One of my goals for Every Girl is to learn something new each day. Right now, it is essential to educate ourselves on the political situation in the United States. However, even if you are not old enough to vote, it is still vital that you learn about what is going on in the country. Educate yourselves now so that when you are old enough to vote and make decisions, you are prepared to do so. I could not vote in this election since I am seventeen years old, but I made it my business to watch unbiased news sources and study candidate policies this year. Education is a continual process, however, and even when I am old enough to vote in the next election, I will still be learning about policies and what is going on in the country. As I noted earlier, it is essential to admit that no one will ever know everything there is to know about a subject.

As a nation, we are incredibly divided. So I'd like to take a few moments to talk about unity, a value of utmost importance to me, and an ideal seen in the very core foundation of Girls Unite Everywhere. While political, social, and economic differences might interfere with many of our relationships, it is essential that at the end of the day, we recognize that we are one country, the United States. We are not Democrats, Republicans, or Independents. We are Americans. I urge all of you, when the results of this election are finalized, to unite. Try to repair the relationships in your life that have been damaged by differing views. This blog post isn't about pushing my political agenda on any of you, no matter how strong it is. Putting personal opinions aside, at the end of the day, we should all be working towards a common goal, our Nation's prosperity and the American peoples' wellness. The fact that there is fear of extreme civil unrest right now, no matter the outcome of this election, is frightening. I urge every single one of you to be patient and try bridge the ideological divide between us. It is okay to disagree with each other. Violence and instillment of fear in response to those disagreements, however, are not okay.
