About Ashley, FounderMy name is Ashley Weitz, and I am a senior at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York, New York. I am so unbelievably fortunate to have been raised in a household with parents that care about me, value my ideas, and more. But as I grow older, I have become aware of exactly how fortunate I am, and how other young girls (especially teenagers) around the world do not have the same advantages that I have had in my life. Despite our different backgrounds, many incredible young girls have taken action in fields important to them, whether that is fighting for equal rights among different genders or helping with our world’s climate crisis. It is amazing what these girls have done to help our world and others, even if they had very little resources available to help them. Hearing stories about these amazing young women has encouraged me to take more action in my life. I believe that we can all inspire each other to be helpful, kind, and proactive members of society, which is why I have taken my passion for social entrepreneurship and started Girls Unite Everywhere. Using this platform, I hope to connect young girls all around the globe, allow them to learn, voice their opinions, take action, and much more. Since many of us are not yet allowed to vote, it is of utmost importance that we find alternative ways to affect change. Our generation is the future, and if I have a say in it, young girls’ voices will not be stifled.
